Pangmiaomiao Zhang
I am a Chemistry Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas at Austin in the Lin Bio-AFM Lab, with an expected graduation date of May 2027. I develop bioanalytical assays to study nucleic acid-protein interactions and biomolecular structure. My work combines biochemical methods with high-speed atomic force microscopy (HS-AFM), mass photometry, fluorescence assays, and electron microscopy.
My current research examines G2L4 reverse transcriptase-mediated DNA repair, the effect of viral glycosylation on SARS-CoV-2 spike-antibody interactions, and the structure of the SARS-CoV-2 membrane protein. My first-author manuscript on G2L4-mediated DNA repair has been accepted in Nature Communications. I also serve as a teaching assistant and manage shared HS-AFM instrumentation in the Lin Bio-AFM Lab.
Previously, I earned an M.Sc. in Chemistry from Tsinghua University, where I developed fluorescence sensor arrays for disease-related biomolecular analysis, and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Southern University of Science and Technology, where I studied organic synthesis and catalysis. I received the Chemistry Department Research Fellowship at UT Austin in 2026.
